Tho Smolonsk stoppod the British steamer Oilurnum, bound from Shanghai for Kobo, and throw overboard 411 bags of boans, 125 bales of cotton, aud a dozen boxes of antimony, then suddonly roleasod tho vessel. Tho roloaso was attributed to an othorgram announcing that the Japanese woro nearing. A sholl shattered the iron cover of the Mikasa’s compass. A fragment of the compass struck Admiral Togo, injuring him slightly in tho thigh. Ho continued unconcernedly to take observations.
