A meeting of the New South Woles Bar passed a resolution deprecating restriction on the powers of the Judges of the High Court in regard to holding sittings at any of the States at such times as they consider necessary. The report of the Collector of Customs of Tasmania, furnished to the Federal Treasurer, shows that Tasmania’s imports abroad have fallen off considerably under the Federal tariff, but the decrease is made up by imports from Victoria. In addition to this loss of revenue, the competition of large factories on the mainland is crowding the small factories of Tasmania out of existence.
