During the four weeks ending May 20 the Waihi Gold Mining Company treated 22,048 tons of ore for bullion valued at £53,930.

A conference between representatives of the Canterbury Sheep owners’ Industrial Union of Employers and of tho Canterbury Shearers’ Union was held to-day to discuss the renewal of tho award of the Arbitration Court, which expires next month. After discussing details the conference found it impossible to agree on the question of wages. The shearers’ representative insisted on the being 20s per hundred, while tho shoep owners wore only prepared to grant a minimum of 15a 6d for maehino sheafing and 16s 8d for hand shoaring, Neither side would give way, and the conference broke up The disputo will now have to bo settled by the Arbitration Court.
