At the Supreme Court to-day Thomas Jones claimed from Colin Camp.bell MoLachlan £2OO damages for the seduction of plaintiff’s daughter in May, 1904. ,The evidenoe showed that the girl was in the employ of defendant when he seduced her, while his wife was away during her confinement. The judge awarded plaintiff £75 damages. The Tramway Board to-day decided to open negotiations for taking over the city and suburban tramway to New Brightcm. Sir Joseph Ward was in town to-day, butareceived no public deputations. Ho was interviewed by members of Parliament on matters of local importance. He informed Mr Ell, M.H.R., that instructions have been given to reduce the hours of railway crossing keepers here from fiftyfour hours per week to forty-eight.
