Mr Matheson declared that tho trouble over Australia’s financial standing was caused by Australians who go Home and consider it their duty to accuse the Labor party and mako out that it is raining the credit. The country’s credit was really ruined’by these travellers and the AgentsGeneral persistently running down the Federal Government and Parliament, whioh gave Englishmen the idea the country was -rapidly drifting to Socialism, with the result that they withdrew their money from Australia.

Mr McLean, Acting-Prime Minister, addressed a letcer to the State Premiers, calling attention to the untrue statements published in English newspapers, tending to discredit Australia, and asking them to instruct the Agenta-General to take prompt steps to controvert them.
