WHANGAKA
(From Our Own Correspondent.) May 15.
The scow Haoremai camo into the bay on Wednesday last with a cargo of timber for Mr Seymour, who is building a new wool-shed. Owing to the absence of a sufficient breeze the scow had to bo towed from Gisborne. The Sheepfarmers’ Freezing Co.’s Nautilus was engaged for the piTrposo of towing, the little steamer being in attendance on the scow all the time she was here in case bad weather should suddenly spring up. They were unfortunate in missing the tide on Wednesday, and consequently had to wait until high tide next day. No time was 'lost then, however, the scow was beached, and discharged nearly fifty thousand feet of timber and 20 tons of other cargo in time to get off with the full tide at night, and about 10.30 p.m. the Nautilus pulled her out of the roadstead, the scow heading north and the Gisborne boat for home. The roads ore in good order at present, but the Fuatae rocks are still very bad.
