DEAD IN A CHAIR.

The New Zealand Herald's Waihi correspondent telegraphed on Wednesday : Mr T. C. Hammond, accountant, of Waihi, was found dead in his chair this morning by Mr Tolmer, who oalled at deceased’s bouse on business. The deceased was one of those who promoted tho borough movement, and worked so onergetioally for it. He served as a volunteer under Garibaldi, and subsequently emigrating to New Zealand, ha fought in tbe Maori war. He came to Waihi in 1896, and had resided here ever sinoo.
