STUDY OF MUSIC. [(Peri 'Press Association^)
Christchurch, laßfc night. A committee appointed by the Board of Governors of Canterbury College to arrange for the establishment of a musical section and public library is preparing, lists of works on music that it considers should be included in the collection, which will inolude not only works now popular, but also some of the finest oratorioß as well as piano pieces.
ACCOUNTANTS. In view of the proposed legislation respecting accountancy and the registration of accountants, a conference of representatives from the existing institutions of accountants was held here during the week. Amongst the matters decided upon was the necessity of procuring Government reoogaition of institutions of accountants by Act of Parliament on similar lines to the provisions of the Aet passed by the Legislature of the Transvaal.
A LABOR. BUREAU. The Canterbury Sbeepowners’ Industrial Union of Employers has decided to open a labor bureau to deal with the large numbers of applications received from station employees. Only a nominal fee is to be charged. OVERCROWDED SCHOOL.
Jho Premier is to be invited to visit Waleham school when next in this oity, and ftse for himself the extent to which the buckling is overcrowded.
