TRAIN FATALITY.
AN INDIGNANT CORONER.
[(Ren Press AssociatiOQ.ji Christchurch, last night. At the inquest on Mrs Prendergast, killed last night by falling off a train, the Coroner, Iklr FT. W- Bishop, commenting on the fact that tho Railway Department was not represented at the enquiry, said [t was courteous neither to him nor to the jury. It was stated by Sub-Inspector Dwyer that the department had been informed that an inquest was to bo held, and he had requested the traffic manager to see that the department was represented.
A verdict of accidental death by falling off a train was returned, and a rider was added that the Railway Department should have been represented at the inquest.
The Coroner said he would communioate with the traffic manager on the matter.
