TRAIN FATALITY.
(Per Press Association.) Christchurch, last night. Mrs Prendergast, aged 69 years, sister of M. C. O'Connell, of Masterton, was run over by the 6.45 p.m. train for Lyttelton at tho Christchurch railway station to-day. Mrs Prendergast, who resides at Heathcote Valley, was returning from her son’s marriage, and got on the platform of a secondclass carriage near the ongine. Just as [ the train was starting she attempted to ! alight, but fell between the rnovrng train and the station platform. The remaining carriages passed over her legs below the I knees. Dr Diamond arrived about seven I o’olock, to find Mrs Prendergast in a moribund condition, and she died about an hour afterwards.
