[ have excited a greater widespread interest | than that attaching to the advent of the present combination, and with to-night’s performance the climax of pleasurable an- [ ticipation of weeks past will be reached. For the opening performance this evening the enormously popular, bright and melodious Japanese comic opera, “ The Mikado,” has been selected. The talented and charmiDg youDg Australian soprano, Miss Dolly Cas'los, will make her first appearance in Gisborne in the part of "YumYum,” for which she has reoeived most flattering enconiums from the Australian and New Zealand press. He is the possessor of a I magnificent baritone voice, and is certain to become a great favorite with Gisborne audiences. Another artist who will make his bow to Gisborne theatre-goers is Mr I Charles Kenningham, principal tenor, who I is one of the most distinguished of living ! exponents of the Gilbert and Sullivan
operas. Miss Ceiia Ghiioni is an artists whose merits stand out to decided advantage in Gilbert and Sullivan’s works. Miss Ghiioni will appear as “ Katisba,” and her | interpretation of the character is said to be one of the finest performances ever seen in Australia or Now Zealand.
