WELLINGTON NEWS.
(Per Press Association.) Wellington, last night. It is announced that extra pay will be handed over on application to officers and men who acted as hospital orderlies on the troopship Montrose. Difficulty is being experienced in tracing the men. In the Supreme Court this morning, Archibald Morris, for theft, was sentenced to twelve months’ imprisonment, to toko effect at the end of tho sentence he is now servmg. Harry Waltbors, alias “ Dutch Harry,” for breaking and entering and theft, was sentenced to eighteen months’ imprisonment. Robert MoOarry, for attempted arson, was sentenced to 2£ years' imprisonment, David Barrie, late oook of the s.s. Mararoa, was fouad guilty at the Supreme Court of assault with intent to do bodily harm. Sentence was deferred. The installations of the Mayors of Onslow and Wellington took place to-day. The retiring Mayor of Wcl’iDgton J,Mr AikeD) stated that duriDg bis term of office since 1900, the revenue of the city had nearly doubled, being £92,054 and £173,946 respectively. There was a slight loss on the tramways for the nine months’ running, but during a portion of that time 'only part of tho line was running. At tho end of the year he expected a small surplus on thß tramways.
