LONDON .WOOL SALES

The wool sales opened very strong, Prices were par to 10 per cent, in advance of {those of the dosing sales of the last series, Beceived 11.30 p.m., May 3. London, May 3. A joint catalogue of 8359 bales of wool, a representative selection, was submitted to-day. There was a crowded attendance. Compared with the March sales merinos j advanced fully 5 per cent and fine medium crossbreds 7i to 10 per cent. Coarse crossbreds were unchanged, with an occa. eional advance. I
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, to-day received the following cable from their Lon'S'll house : “ The wool market opened strong for all sorts. As compared with last sales’ closing rates prices are 5 per cent, higher for coarse and me- j rino, 10 per cent, higher for crossbred lambs, fine crossbred and medium crossbred. There is a good American demand for crossbred wool.”
