PREMIER’S TWELFTH ANNIVERSARY.
I (Per Press 'Association.) Wellington, last night. I Yesterday was the twelfth anniversary I of Mr Seddon’s assumption of office as I Premier. Speaking at a gathering at I Petone last night Mr Seddon passed under I review th period during whioh he had been | head of the Government. He said that judging by the number of congratulatory I telegrams he had received from all parts I of the colony there were many who be- [ lieved the country had not suffered by his being Prime Minister. Other nations would have to build their legislation on the lines followed by New Zealand if there was to be peace between capital and labor in those countries. The Immigration Restriction Bill had been called the Undesirables’ Bill, bat as time went on people would require legislation to prevent the oolony being contaminated by the derelicts of older countries. Mr Seddon made reference to the Railways Superanuation Fund, whioh was in a satisfactory position, and spoke of the duty of the Government in regard to providing land in suburban districts for housing purposes.
