Redmond, inquiring concerning everything in Ireland, the Pope said the National Party was tho defender of Ireland’s national religion*The Party's efforts to win liberty for Ireland and civil and religious rights for the Irish people were lawful, peaceful. means, that had his sympathy and blessing. He sent the apostolic benediction to members of tho Party and theii families. The Pope presented Mr Redmond with a portrait and autograph, with an inscription hoping that the Party were using all legal and pacific means to win that liberty which makes for the welfare of the Catholic 1 Church and the whole country.
