FIRE AT THE MOTU.
A fire occurred at the Motu at one o’clock yesterday morning, resulting in the total destruction of a seven-roomed house, the property of Mr W. J ■ Baigent, and occupied by Mr P. Mortenson. Owing to the strong easterly wind whioh prevailed it was impossible to save any of the 1 contents of the house. The origin of the fire is unknown. The house and furniture was insured in the Guardian Office, but the amount is not known at present.
