LATE CABLES.

Tho Boer organisation, Met Volk, has agreed with responsible Government, also upon common politienl action, including tho toleration of coolies for five years, adoption of an exclusively white franchise ..on one vote one valus, tho Dutch language to bn permitted in Parliament, and local control of education under departmental safeguards. The whole agreement is based on loyalty to tho Impeiial conneotion and promotion of tho country’s prosperity. London, April 20. Parliament has boen adjourned to May 2nd.

Mr Chamberlain, replying to the Midlands’ Groe'ers Association, said that Government bad not progressed in their principal measures, and unless business was expedited it would be impossible for them to give a prominent place to the Butter Bill, with whoso object he sympathised.

Arrived at 8 p.m. the Gothic. She sails for Wellington at 6 a.m. on Saturday. Thirty.one passengers were landed here, and 153 are proceeding to New Zealand.

The show was opened by the Governor. The main topic of hiß speech was the returning prosperity of agricultural and commercial interests.

There was a largo attendance at the calling of the Doncaster Handicap card. Business was only moderate. Dart was backed to win £SOOO at 100 to 1 and If, Sunderland £3OOO at 100 to 2, Lucknow £BOOO at 100 to 3, Oherson £2OOO at 10 tp 1. Leading prices at the close wore::— Mock 7 to 1, Chorson 10 to 1, Ibex 12 to 1, Boabdil 100 to 5.

Sydney, April 21. The High Court decided that litigants may appeal direct to the High Court from the decision of any single judge without asking local Full Courts to first intervene. Fremantle, April 21. Arrived, the Muriahiku, New Zealand Government dredge, from England. Adelaide, April 21. A deputation from 100 racing clubs asked the Government to compel the police to assist the club 3 in removing bookmakers from courses. The Chief Secretary promised, if it was found impossible to vindicate the law, to introduce legislation to check the evil. The olubs made several efforts to remove bookmakers, but failed owing to the police declining to assist.

Sydney, April 21. At tho Homebush sales for better classes prices were slightly easier, though still very dear. At the cattle sales in connection with the show two young Shorthorn bulls were sold at 525 and 320 guineas respectively. Five Shorthorn bulls, the property of Mr John Grant, brought 130, 100, 75,.65, and 65 respectively. The prioes generally were good. In the final gallops Marvel Loch did a taking mile in 1.47, finishing resolutely and well. Lord Boyne, working with shoes off, did a mile in 1.44. Long Tom did a fast mile and a half in 2.45. Gladsome went ten fnrlongs in best style in 2.18.

If they were only conquerors overpowered by armed resistance they were not benefactors. He would support all reforms submitted to him in a legal manner. After King George’s withdrawal union with Greece was vetoed.
