LAND COMMISSION.
(Pec Press Association.) Waiau, last night. Tho Land Commission drove from Culverden to Waiau this morning, and inspected Lyndon Nos. 1 and 2 and Annan settlement. It took evidence in the afternoon. Several Lyndon tenants complained that rents fixed were too high, but the majority wore in favor of leasehold. The Annan tenants were satisfied with the present conditions, but complained on the construction of tho promised road to the settlement. Another complaint made was that the settlements were loaded with excessive cost, through the construction of expensive roads. Walter Rutherford, formerly a large landholder, favored the lease in perpetuity system, with periodical revaluation. The Commission returned to Culverden to-night, and will hear further evidence at Hawarden to-morrow.
