RURAL TECHNICAL EDUCATION.
• I ——!» '**•* *tie Editor Gisborne Times.)' (To .. report of the Coot Sir, —From you. ' ° n Mond^ County Council meeting hei last, I observe that the sum of £so' a ycwas voted towards securing a lecturer to hold classes throughout the district for rural technical education, whilst as many shillings could not be spared to put a main road in tho Patutahi district in order. Notice of motion for next meeting was also given by the Chairman of the Council to strike a supplementary rate. X should like to ask—la this method of dealing with the county funds approved of by the general body of ratepayers ? Technical education is all right in its way, and should certainly he encouraged, but I hardly think it is the duty of the Council to vote £SO a year towards the cost of sending a lecturer throughout the district when there are so many roadß requiring a few pounds to be spent upon them.—X am, etc., A SUFFERER.
