I A ballot for sections in the Greenfield I estate, aoquired by the Government for I olose settlement, took place at Lawrence on Saturday, Applicants from a distanoe I were very snooessful, one from Pioton, two I from Kaiapoi, ono from Washdyko, WaiI mate, Fairlie, Pleasant Point, two from Temuko, St. Andrew’s, and Amnri being supeeasfnl. In three instanoes applicants | agreed to exohange sections, and in four instanoes the applicants refused to take up the sections in groups. Twenty eight of the forty selections were granted, and the balance are now open to the unsuccessful applicants till 4 o’clock on Monday afternoon. Of the balanoe six sections have been applied for by ten applieants.
