THE WHEAT MARKET. I (Per Press Association.) I Christchurch, last night. I Tho local wheat market is even weaker I than at last report, and much difficulty is J experienced in fixing prices definitely, and I few farmers are willing to accept the I prices offered, and are demanding 3's all I round. There is very little prime milling [ being offered, but for wheat that is dry and I in good condition the demand is fairly I steady. Tho lower grade qualities which I comprise the larger proportion offering are very dull of sale. A line of good sound pearl, of 600 sacks, -was sold, at station for 2s ters were sold for 2s 8d at a 2d station ; 1000 sacks of Tuscan (slightly off colour) were sold at 2s 6d at a country station ; and 500 sacks of pearl and 160 sacks of Tuscan wore sold at 2s lOd f.o.b. at Lyttelton. Quotations for new wheat are from 2s 8d to 2s lOd. Tho oat market" 1 is inclined to be easier, and the majority on offer are iGartons at Is 6d to Is 7d at country stations. There is a good demand for duns and heavy Canadians of prime quality, but both appear to be scarce, Danish are quoted at Is 3d to Is 4d, Potatoes are quoted at £4, but very little business is being done.
