By Telegraph—Press Asaooiatton —Copyrigh:

London, April 13. Mr Tuff moved in the House of Commons that in view of the Opposition leaders' conflicting statements, it is expedient that Sir H. Campbell-Bannerman give an explicit declaration in regard to Home Rule.

Sir H. Campbell-Bannerman declined to satisfy the preposterous demand. The Liberals, ho said in reply, would continue tho struggle in the cause of good government in Ireland as the time and circumstances allowed. Mr William Redmond said the Nationalists occupied Mr Charles FarnoU’s ground in 1886.

Mr Balfour said if tho Opposition secured a majority the Nationalists might whistle for Home Rule.

A SECRET MEETING.

By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyrigh' Received 10 p.m., April 14. London, April 14.

A secret meeting of 150 tariff Reform members of the House] of Commons unanimously adopted Mr Chamberlain’s statement of policy and appointed a.deputation to wait on Mr Balfour to day. It is understood to express adhesion to Mr Balfour’s “ half sheet of notepaper” policy at Manchester. It is expected to produce an excellent effect on unionists.

Lord Rosebery, addressing the Liberal League, hoped that Liberals would grant generous justice to Ireland without a hope of gratitude, and without expectation of immediate results. He predicted that the House of Lords would prove aggressively and offensively Tory regarding Liberal legislation.
