LAND COMMISSION.
XPen Press 'Association.) Christchurch, last night. The Land Commission arrived here tonight, after holding sittings at Methven and Bakaia. The proceedings at the lastmeutioned plaoo were of a {more or less abortive character, owing to the fact that no notice had been given of the intention of the Commission to sit there. ■- The secretary of the local branch of the LiberalLabor Federation and two settlers from ! Mead settlement gave evidence in favor of the leasehold. The Chairman of the Commission stated with regard to the Bakaia sittiog that he hod sent the Crown Lands Banger to an adjacent settlement to ask witnesses to attend and give evidence. The Commission visit Lincoln College tomorrow, and hold a sitting here on Saturday,
