POL ICE SCANDAL.
£Per Press 'A'sSociatioH.) Dunedin, last night. Ex-Constable Moses was committed for irial on a further charge of breaking and ontering the D. 1.0. Mr Hanlon asked for bail. The Crown Prosecutor said the police had special reasons for believing that if accused was liberated the ends of justice would be defeated. Mr Graham, 13. M.: “ I shall refuse bail in this case.” Mr Hanlon : “ Very well, I will see what Mr Justice Williams has to say about it.” Ex-Constable McDonald, who reserved his defence, was committed on a charge of burglary of Ahlfeld’s warehouse. Mr Fraser said ho had been instructed by the Commissioner of Police to oppose bail. Men of accused's class had facilities to get away. The Magistrate admitted accused to bail on his own recognisance. This closes the police scandal till the criminal sittings next month. Ex-Constable Osborne will have to answer three charges, ex-Constables Moses and McDonald two each, and ex-Constable Quilt one
