TUBNING THE TIDE OF OPINION
[(Ebb E-resa Association.) Dunedin, last night. A Southland deputation, addressing a Boxburgh audience re Southland claims for the Edievale-Boxburgh route, met at Waterlow yesterday evening. The hall was packed,- and the Southlanders were accorded a fair hearing. Messrs Henan, M.H.8., and Baymond spoke forcibly, asking_ the meeting to pledge itself to the Edievale route. Speaking to the motion, Mr Mark Cohen (who remained at Boxburgh to represent the Dunedin deputation) delivered a telling reply, rebutting all arguments brought forward by Southland. The speech is characterised by the Daily Times' Hpeoial reporter as a magnificent effort, which turned the tide. Mr John Bennett moved a necessary hostile amendment in favor of the LawrenceBoxburgh route. This was carried by an enormous majority.
