The leading clergymen, many medical men, Government officials,!; and representatives of local bodies were A present. Tho .project before the 1 meeting/ was a proposal to raise £2OOO by public f subscription to build an annexe to the'! **j™ungton Hospital ’where poor people suffering from consumption may fae'i treated. It was unanimously agreed to raise fihe necessary sum. •
Dr Newman reported that he and Dr valmtine had already collected £450,n11i mfr. firms giving liberally, and another’ ±l5O was promised.
