FOOTBALL.

KAITI-CITY FOOTBALL CLUB. The annual meeting of the above club was held at the Boyal Hotel last evening. There was a large attendance of members and intending players. Mr Harold Bright occupied the chair. The secretary, Mr J. Eaton, read the annual report, which was as follows :—ln presenting the annual report and balancesheet for the season of 1904, your committee do so with great pleasure, and feel sure that members will bo gratified on the sound finances of the olub and of the prospects, of again having a highly successful season. Last yoar wo started with a credit balance of £2 Is Sd, and after receiving donations from vioa-presidents and sub-

scriptions from members, also percentage of gate from Scinde v. Kaiii-City match, the amount available for expenditure was £25 3s 6d. Out of this amount £2l B's 8d was spent in the management of the affairs of the club, and in entertaining the Soinde footballers during their visit to Gisborne last Easter. This leaves a sum of £3 14s lOd to carry forward, which, by the way, is the largest balance we have had since the elub was formed. A very pleasing item in the balance-sheet is members’ subscriptions (£6 15s 6d), which is a far better return than in former years, and proves that the hint thrown out at last meeting was heeded by-members. ThaDks are due to the Rev. Father Mulvihill and Messrs W. B. Common, J. H.

Martin, H. E, Maude, J. J. Martin, and

Ted Harris for donations towards the funds of the elub, and for their assistance

during the season. Last Easter Monday the Scinde Football Club, of Napier, jour-

neyed to Gisborne to play a match with your club, which, after a hard and close game, was won by the visitors, Their stay in Gisborne was made most enjoyable by members and also by footballers generally, and it is the wish of the Soinde Football Club that Haiti-City will travel to Napier at Easter, in order that they may be able to return the kind hospitality which they received in Gisborne. For the third season in eupcession

Kaiti-City first fifteen again acted as runners-up in the championship, West End proviDg the victors after a hard game in the concluding match. The second fifteen started off well, going through the first round without defeat, but mainly owing to the seniors having to promote several of their number they were unable to be so strongly represented in the final matches as at the commencement of the season. However, they made a bold bid for victory, and, like the seniors, were second on tho list. The Kaiti-City Club were represented in the annual contest with Hawke’s Ray by Messrs H. Bright, W. Delamcre, E, Beamish, and G. Reynolds. The club has suffered a severe loss in the departure of Messrs D. Porter and E. Beamish, whose places it will be found hard to fill. Your committee would urge the old members, with the new ones to be elected, to band themselves together strongly and make a big effort to break the spell of bad luck andsegure the championship this coming season. Duripg the season Mr H. Bright, one of your moat energetic members, kindly donated two handsome walking-sticks for competition one to be presented eo the best forward and the other to the best back, The selectors (Messrs H, E. Maude and J. Eaton) finally chose Messrs J, J. Martin /forward) and 1). Porter (back) as the ones Lost •desST'tog <? £ , tbe boDor aDd ,.* h ® trophies. In would suggest that tbh proposed return match with the Scinde Club be discussed this evening, and that an endeavor be made to make the journey, which should prove a most enjoyable trip. The team could leave hero on the Sunday, play at Napier on Easter Monday, and leave again on the Tuesday evening, thus practically only losing only one day, Monday being a public holiday. Your committoe also desire to oppress tho gratitude of members of the club to Mr H. Bright ioc bis liberality and kindness in presenting tho abovementioned trophies ; and also to Mr J. J. Martin, captain, for' the use of bathroom during the season, and the room for holding meetings in. .The report was adoptedThe following officers wore-elected Patron, Mr J. W. NolaD; president, Mr H.
