At a mooting of tho Board of Education, the diraotor of teohnioal education reported Shat Chore had been a large increase of students at technical classes. Tho increase had amounted, to 26 per eont. over la»* year at Thames, and 60 per ueui. as Auckland. At a meeting of tho City schools committee tho question arose as to the right of a parent to take a child from one school and send it to another without first obtaining a transfer permit. It was argued that a parent could Bond his ohild to a different sohool every week in the year if he sol pleased, while others of the committee j were emphatic in their opinion that such I a course would speedily result in his I penalisatiou under tho Truant Act.
