GISBORNE -ROWING. CLUB, i The first heat for the President's trophy, presented by Mr 'A. F. Kennedyto the Gisborne Rowing Club., ,tp<sk place last evening,, when, Bay ly. nietr Donkin, and won rather- easily,-, though ft is'only fair to the loser jtp''say. that, he was very unfortunate at the start, losing his seat aftec about tho first fobr, strokes. The se-vjpn-a heat resulted in a win for Hamilton over Swinserton, who. stroked Williams’ crew, -the latter being unable to row, through illness in his family. This evening Hamilton, will meet Buscke, and the winner will row Bayly, for. the the final on, Monday evening.
At a committee meeting held, last evening, Mr C. Hamilton was elected secretary, in place of Mr A. Coleman (resigned),, and Mr Donkin was elected to the vaqancy thus caused on the Cammifttee. It was resolved that the deputy-captain ihtervSew the preaid-emt, and arrange, a night of general meeting, at which prizes won ■ Lduring' the season will ha presented.
