Lawless wrote : •“ On beJiali' of the petitioners for a public school at K'aiiti and. Wainui, I forward particulars asked for in yqur letter; of 23rd iilt.,. and inform you •that at a meeting of householders it was decided to recommend that a site lor a school be chosen somewhere in the vicinity of Tyndall and Russel • roads, Kaiti. A; plan, isj enclosed of the locality suggested, which appears to be fairly central.
