OPENING OF LINE. Last evening Mr W. J. P. Gaudin received the fallowing telegrams in reference to the’opening of the Gisbfjrne-Te Karaka railway :— * . .
“ I much regret that it is impossible to attend tho.opening ceremony of the railway daring the time you mention, owing to the numerous engagements that have been made in the South Island.—Elunket, Governor.”
“ Is rsply to your wire (I am extremely sorry that it will apt be possible for me to bo present at the ceremony in connection with the opening of the railway between Gisborne and To Karaka on the dato mentinned by Mr Carrol), as I have boon ordered to take a spell for a few weeks. J. G, Ward."
