Amid cheers, the Trade Unionists and Trade Disputes Bill was read - a second, time, by 252 votes to ''l3o, and was referred to, tho standing committee on law.
Tho opponents, of the Bill objected particularly to the third clause. - - Mr Finlay, declared that it would be rash to legislate prior ‘-toi, (the Royal Commission’s report. He .would, he said,; vote against the Bill but for the Government treating it as an open question.
The third clause of the Trades Disputes Bill protects the funds of trades unions against recovery for damage owing to Ere action of individual members.
Mr; Asq,uith supported the Bill iug referred to the Committee.
The Nationalist press, referring to Lord Rosebery’s shameless beftrayal of Home Rule, declares jtjiat an open enemy is better .than a false friend, i . ,
