The local Cricket Association has decided to play a Town v. Country match at Taruheru on Saturday afternoon next as a trial match in view of the forthcoming fixture with Hawke's Bay. The following elevens have been selected to take part: Town: W. Gibson, Hallamore, Gardiner, J. Gibson, McPherson, llbert, Hodgkinson, Sedon, M. Sheridan, Robertson, and J. Lang ; emergencies, Hill, Chisholm, and A. Lang. Country : Raymond, Sharp (2), Barton, Charles, Hodge, TorkiDgton, Lasker, Fenwick, Golding, and Colthart; emergencies, McConnell, Sims, and J. Leggett.
A cricket match was played on Saturday between the Patutahi and Matawhero dubs, and after an interesting game resulted in a win for Matawhero by two wickets. Patutahi batted first and scored 57, W. Moore being chief scorer with 34, Dwyer 9, Lochead 6. Matawhero made 74 for eight wickets, Robie 16, Smith 23, Baty 17, McConnell 4 being obiof scorers. Robie, Colthart, Smith, and Morris did J the bowling for Matawhero, and Moore, I West, Holchior, and Lochead for Patutahi. J
