TOKOMARU V. MATA. [(From Our Own Correspondent.) A very enjoyablo game was played on Saturday last botwoon a team from the baok stations and our looal team. Though Cup matoh groat intorost was takon s and a koonly oontestod game was the v • t. i Tokomaru won the toss and sent 'sitors to the wiokots. L. E. and G. jo. still opened up for Mata, Oates, jun., and Day bowling. Runs omno slowly. After about half-an-hour’s play, Day bowled L. E, Cotterill for sovon. Matohott followed and snored 10 before ho was bowlod by Rowland. G. Cottorill was playing vory niooly, gotting most of his runs by some fine log glanoes. H( eventually gave Day a obartoe at point whioh was aooopted, and retired for a ser, vioeable contribution of *26. None of the remaining batsmen succeeded in making a stand. The innings closed for 69. Busby and Oates, jun., were the two first batsmen for Tokomaru. Oates did not stay long. Sigloy followed only to be bowled first ball. Kelley then helped Busby to carry the score to 24, when Cotterill boat Busby with a leg break. Kelley was shortly afterwards stumped for 12. No other batsman reached double figures, and the innings olosed for 64, just five runs in advanoe of Mata’s score. The prinoipal feature of Mata’s second innings was the brilliant batting of L. E. and G. Cotterill, who made 39 and SO respectively. L. E. Cotterill gets most of his runs by cutting a stroke, _ whioh ho is particularly strong on. It is a pleasuro to watoh him sending the ball through the slips or past point and oover point. Kenana and Powell with 13 and 16 (not out) respectively were the only otherß to get into double figures. seoond innings olosed for 114, leaving Tokomaru | 111 to get to win. Bnsby and Sigley opened Tokomaru’s second innings, and carried the scoro to 22 before Sigley returned one to Cotterill Kelley, Day and Hewetson did not stay long. Busby was scoring rapidly. He made 83 by some fine hitting before Wyllie bowled him. Busby played a fine innings and never gave a ohanoe. J. and W. Oates, jun, got together and oarried the score from 56 to 92 before W. Oates was disposed of. He was batting about ten minutes for 23. J. Oates, who is only 14 years of age played a fine innings. He very seldom misses a ball oa the leg side, his score of 34 being made up mostly of tbrees and fours; ha played very steadily, blocking the straight balls and waiting-for one to leg. - Oonoll, the not oat man, hit up 17 before the last wicket fell. Tokomam reached 145, thus winning by 35 cans.

L. E. Cotterill captained the Mata, and W. Oates, sen., the Tokomaru team. On Friday and Saturday next Tolago Bay will play both Waipiro and Tokomarn on this gronnd (Oup matches).
