In his charge to the grand jury, I Sis Honor said that none of the cases were serious, but he alluded to the fact that a oharge of using obscene language in a railway carriage was the first to come be- | fore him in which accused had. demanded I a trial by jury instead of adopting the nsual course of having the case heard by the Stipendiary Magistrate. True bills were found against J. H. Towers, breach of Bankruptcy Act; Mary Jane Lee, theft and forgery, two counts ; Frederick Middleton, three oharges of theft.
