LAND COMMISSION.
(Pei: Press Association.') Invercargill, last night. The Land Commission was absolutely barren of witnesses to-day at Winton. Tho district iB one of the oldest settlements in the South, consequently nearly all tho farmers own the freehold, and are not interested in the subjects of enquiry. v Tho members of the Commission were present at a mock ballot in the Land Office, dissatisfaction having been expressed by some witnesses with the present system; They tffite evidence here to-morrow if any is offered, and leave this part of the district for Gore.
