LATE NEW ZEALAND
(Per Press Association.) Invercargill, last night. In the Divoroe Court decrees nisi were granted in the case of Catherine Wilson v, James Wilson, on the ground of failure to maintain, and in the case of Margaret McCrobee v. D. McCrobee, for desertion ainoe 1879. The latter parties were married here in January, 1862.
Nelson, last night. At the annual meeting of the Chamber of Commeroe to-night Mr J. H. Cook was elected chairman and Mr Frank Hamilton vice-chairman. Amongst other things, the question of desirable amendments to the Shops and Offices Act was referred to a committee.
Napier, last night. The Wairarapa representative cricket team commenced a match against Hawke’s Bay to day. In their first innings Hawke’s Bay scored 166 ; G. Hawke 45, Fenton, Hal), and Howard 22 each. Wairarapa in their first innings made 100 ; F. Hawke 34, Oargill 25. In the second innings Hawke’s Bay have lost three wickets for 35 rune.
Wellington, last night. In the divoroe court to-day a decree nisi was granted in a suit brought by Mary Garard for dissolution of her marriage with Fred Garard, a painter, on the grounds of his habitual drunkenness, cruelty, and failure to support her. The Blackball Coal-Company have sold the steamer Dingadee to Eastern buyers. The vessel leaves for Hong Kong in a week. It is understood the same buyers have bought the company’s steamer Petone for later delivery. - The next Compensation Court to deal with the Flaxbourna dispute will probably sit on April 10th, the Chief Justice presiding.
