Danish unchanged, New Zealand 102 s to 103 s, Australian 100 to 101 s. Cheese : Dull ; New Zealand 50s to 51s.
PRICE OF WOOL REMAINS STEADY. By Telegraph—Press Assoolatlon—Copyrlghj Received 12,58 a.m., Feb 28. Sydney, Feb. 27. At the wool sales prices remain steady at tho closing rates of tho late sale.
(Per Press Association.) Wellington, Inst night. The Industries and Commerce Department haa received the following cablegram from the Agent-General, dated London, January 25th :—“ The mutton market ia steady. There has been more i inclination to purchase supplies during the past week. The average price to-day of Canterbury mutton is 4 8-8 d per lb for light weights, 4d for heavy weights. The average price of other North Island brands of mutton is 3gd to 4 l-Bd. There is a better demand for lamb. The average price of New Zealand lamb, Canterbury brands, is 6Jd, New Zealand brands, other I than Canterbury 6d, The average price of Australian lambs is 4£d. _The beef marIfet is very dull. The supply of American chilled beef is large. Biver Plate chilled hinds are quoted at per lb, fores j2id. Quotations for New Zealand beef are nominal. The butter market is very firm. The average price of choicest New Zealand is lo2s per cwt. There is general [ confidence in the maintenance of present prices. The market continues active, notwithstanding heavy arrivals. There are at present no complaints of fishiness of New Zealand butter, and the shipments landing are giving satisfaction to buyers. The wool market for fine crossbreds re- j mains steady, but for medium and coarse oro3sbreds it is weak. I
Messrs Murray, Roberts and Co. are in receipt of the following oable from London, dated 26rd inst. :—Sheepskins : Merino and croosbred fine. Market declined id ; crossbred, coarse, market declined Jd to Id.”
