STOCK SALE AT NUHAKA

A very successful salo was hold by cdossrs Lalgoty.and 00. at Nuhalsa on Tuesday, thoro boiDg a largo attendance of buyers from all parts of the district. Mr G. B. Eliott, manager of the Gisboruo branch, supervised tho sale, Mr Waohsuiann officiating as auctioneer. The yarding comprised 8000 sheep, 120 hand cattle, and 40 horses. Tho sale was held in Mr G. Walker’s yards, which wore kindly plaoed at tho firm’s disposal. Competition was koen, and tho following prioes wore i re Sheep—l7o brokon mouth orossbrod owes 9s 6d, 194 full mouth ewes 12s 6d, 1 180 lambs (woolly) 10s Bd, 94 full mouth ewes 12s Id, 284 do 12s 6d, 100 old ewes 10s Bd, 183 lambs 10s 6d, 46 brokemmouth ewes 8s lid, 68 fat owes 14s 6d, 100 oull lambs 6s 6d, 17 full-mouth Lincoln rams 10s 63, 11 do Bomney rams LI Bs. Cattle—Tho yarding of radio was cleared under tho hammer at the following .figures: 2 fat eows L 6 2s 6d. 2 fat cows ! L 5 15s, 4 store cows (empty) L 4 15s, oow and oaif L 6, 5 heifers in calf L 4,2 moor calves,L2 2s 6d, 4 steers and heifors (diyears old) L 4 7s 6d, 18 mouth to two year old steers L 3 7s, 17 cows (empty) L 3 15s, 2 fat cows L 6 2s 6d, 2 Jorsoy hoders L 8 6s, 2 empty oowa L2 15s, 24 oowa in calf L 4 Sa. _ * Horses—There was little demand, only a portion of tho catalogue being cleared. , Messrs llalgety and Co. also held a ! clearing aalo of dairy stock at Morero on Monday on behalf of Mr Thomas Taylor. The sales included one dairy cow afc Xil3 and ' another at -L* 15s, whilst 31 averaged L 6 11. month old heifors sold from Xi 3 15s to 1H 3s, and oalves from Jj2 23 to L2 18a 6d

We are pleased to say that notwithstanding the large numbers offering this week bidding was brisk from the start, and competition good. Ail the linos woce quitted under the batnuur at prices on a par with last week’s sale. The prinoipal lines sold were: 810 Romney ewes, 14s ; 435 ditto, 11s 6d ; 395 ditto, 11a 7d ; bl ditto, 12s 7d ; 56 culls, 9s 4i ; 96 ditto. 9s 8d ; 38 ditto, 7s 2d ; 167 cro-sbrod ewes, lls 9d; 130 ditto, lls 7d ; 111 ditto, lls 6d ; 220 ditto, 12s; 500 ditto, 10a 8d ;. 254 ditto, 13s sd; 171 ditto. 13j 6d; 106 ditto, 12s Id ; fat wethers, 16s 2d ; stores, 15s;. 6-tooth Linooln rams from 2£ guineas to 3 guineas. Very few cattle were offered. A nice line of weauers brought £2 16s ; cows and oalves, £o 2s 6d ; dairy heifers, £5 2s 6d to r 66 os. JPigs: 50 suckers sold at from 5s 6d to 7s.

Several lines of sheep arrived too late for tho sale owing to owners uot noting the alteration of date. These wili be offered at 11 o’clock to-day. Our next sale will bo held on March 9th,
