SLY GROG CASE
AN ALLEGED PERJUBY. (Per Press Association.) Dunedin, last night
Tho charges of sly grog selling were again beforo tha Police Court to-day. A oonssablo named Boss and a 'probationer named Hall have been in the city for some months doing odd jobs for various firms, and in their spare time keeping a look-ont for sly grog selling. In the case of L. Clancy, keeper of the Trocadero, formerly of Court’s Otago Hotel, the offence is alleged to have been committed on November Bth last, but as it was not-until tho witnesses for the Crown had given avidenoe that the defence knew who were in the bouse at the time. Adjournments were granted to enable the witnesses to be found.. -.The defenoe Ito day notified that their attempts to find the persons had proved futile and the magistrate reserved his decision. Olarioy was then charged with-selling liquor on December 2nd, Boss and HGilf being the witnesses. Neither of them oould remember anything beyond what they had in ,'thfeir books as to what took place at the TrOcadero. This oase, also a charge against Mrs Clancy, wbb adjourned.
A charge of alleged perjury against Boss, arising out of the evidence he gave in another case quite apart from the licensing cases, was also adjourned.
