Larsen, the sole survivor, of the (wreck of the Brierholme, states that the Bricrholme was driven ashjorq at midnight on November' sth, - ■ iThe night .was very dark. ■The impact caused ithe dynamite, of which .there was a largo guantity aboard, .la explode. The captain and most of the .others Wero below at the time the vessel' Was -blown, up, and perished. Two of the masts were blown out, Ai heavy sea completed the destruction of the Yessel. Seven oil the crew took ’ refuge in the foremast rigging. Before daylight the mast carried away, Larsen and another sailor .only Were left. - Larsen got ashore on a plank ; the other was drowned in the attempt, Larsen sustained life by food cast ashore from the wreck. He wandered long distances along. it-he coast. He tried, to build a boat and raft, -hut failed. He sighted several vessels, and was once In close proximity to the search party, but they failed to notice his signals, '',
