The House of Lords discussed the Elderslie Steamship Company’s appeal against the Appeal Court’s reversal of Mr Justice Walton's decision of tho 9th March, 1903, in tho Borthwick action for damaged meat on tho steamer Nairnshire, Lord Halsbury holding that shipowners had exemption from liability under the refrigerator bill of lading qualified by the words “if reasonable means have beßn taken to provide against defects.”- Justices MaoNaughton and Lindley concurred.
