LARGE VOTE FOR SOOT HERN RAILWAY.
Press Association.)
Dunedin, last night. The Hon. Hali-Jonos, speaking at Roxburgh yostorday, said ho was satisfied that Toviot was one of the best fruit-growing districts in the world. With increased facilities they would not only keep out imported fruit, but would export to other countries. He hoped to get a vote from Parliament which would enable them to push on the Roxburgh-Lawrenee lino as fast as the Otago Central at least. Ho hoped before that time next year to see the turning of the first sod. If the House next year gave him a substantial vote for the Roxburgh-Lawrenee lino no one in the diotriot would be better pleased than the Minister would be.
Mr Hall-Jones was ontortained at a social in the evening, whon he said there was no hope for the Moa Fiat railway route. When the Otago Contral reached Clyde, there should be a large sum available for the construction of the RoxburghLawrenee line.
