WOODS-WILLIAMSON COY
HIS MAJESTY’S THEATRE TO-NIGHT. • Thi3 evening at Hia Majosty’s Theatre tba public of Gisborne will have an oppor fiunity of welcoming the return of the famous Woods-Williamson Dramatic Company, which was accorded such a warm roPception oh the occasion of thoir laat visit. In their latest play. *' The garden of Lies,” they achieved an almost phenomena} success. The furore which Justin Milea Forman’s remarkable novel created in the Ysocial and literary world on its first appearance was more than accentuated on the production of the play at St. James Theatre, London, where it is now running .to crowded bouses. The high opinioD of i She production by Home critics has been ' more than endorsed throughout Now Zea laud, and whorever Mr Woods and * Miso Williamson have played it. The - charaocers of the Princess Eleanor * and the poor art student, Denis Mallory, afford Miss Williamson and Mr Woods splendid opportunities, and in no parts have they gained greater admiration. As played by Mr Woods and Miss WiUiam--%son, they are creations tbafi livo as the "man and woman of the fascinating story, and not more stage puppets. The'characters in the play are all interesting studies, and lose nothing in representation frotn an all round cast, which has been reorganised " and strengthened since the company s last appearance here. scenery has boen painted for tho production. To-morrow evening the company will bo ,saen in that immensely popular farciaal -V comedy, “My Wife’s Mother,” and on Friday evening Hall Caine’s greatest work, n The Christian,” will bo presented.
