MASTERTON SHOW.
Per Press Association^ .Masterton, last night. The eigtheenth annual show of the Mastorton A. arid P. Association was opened to-day in fine . weather. The attendance is considered a record for the first day. The entries, 1864, show an increase of 22 as compared with last year, and constitute a record for any show held in the Wairarapa. Stook on tbo whole was in excellent condition. Outside districts are largely represented, and in many classes the judges have the greatest difficulty in awarding the prizes. Championship, shorthorn bull oalved since July Ist, 1903, trustees of late D. McMassers, Matawhere; York heifer calved since July Ist, 1901, W. C. Buchanan Boauiieu Duchess, 126th grade; shorthorn bull calved prior to July Ist, 1001, J. McDrummond; cow any age calf at foot, W. Mace ; pure bred Hereford bull calved Binco July Ist, 1903, R.
McGregor; cow any age calf at loot, Stuckey Bros, Amethyst 92nd ; pure bred Ayreshire bull calved since July Ist, 1902, Slack Bros' Rankin’s Pride ; cow any age oalf at fo"ot,S. W. Luzford’s Wiunie. Jersey and Alderney bull calved prior to July Ist, 1901, G. R. Lancaster's May Flower Magnet ; cow, Paul Hunter’s Primroso II.; heifers, R. Lancaster's Primrose 26th ; fat bullock, W. C. Buchanan ; heifer, A. W. Cave. Lincolns, ram over 33 months, Perry Bros.; ewe over 21 months, Perry Bros.; English Leicestershire ram I over 33 months, Perry Bros.; ewe over 21 months, P. C. Thelkeld ; Romany Marsh ram, Gray Bros.; ewe, E. Short; Southdown ram, J. Stuckey ; owe, Jas. Stuckey: Shropshire ram, Wm. Raynor; ewe, E. Wills; Yorrkshiro boar, J. Mandall; J. Mandell; sow, White. W, C. Buchanan won the silver oup presented by Messrs O. H. Smith and F. Moore for the most points in fat cattle classes. Perry Bros, won E. W. Dorset’s gold medal for most points in Linoolos. Garforth won the Memorial Challenge Cup with the most points. Tho New Zealand bred Southdown (to be won three times, the association also awarding a gold medal to each year’s winner) was won by Jas. Stuckey for the third time in succession. W. O. | Buchanan won E. W. Dorset’s silver ! medal for the most points in fat sheep competitions. Machine shearing, Arthur Brightweil; trotting horse, W. Cooper’s Glenwood ; pony jumping, Wm. Raynor’s Black Boy ; maiden jumping, W. Howard Booth’s Robin; mounted infantry competition, Sergeant MaoCormick’s section (Hawke’s Bay M.R.); hunters’ leaping.
