HOSPITAL FEES.
(Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, last night.
The Hospital Committee reported! at a meeting of the Charitable Aid Board that fees amounting to £2073 had been enquired into, and £320 having been paid, £lßsl was written off. The secretary said that ilhc cases dealt with extended over a good long period. The chairman said that each case was reported on separately, before tho amounts were written off. Some of those cases were as far hack as 1808. Some of tho patients were scattered about tho world. One, he knew, was in Sweden. Mr, J, Bollard, M.H.R., said that he thoiught it was cruel to issue notices to late patients, threatening to. auo them without first enquiring into their circumstances. Mr A. Bruce said- that' as a matter of fact several applications were made before a threat ta summons Was sent. V The chairman said that the cases were reported on before action was taken. He moved that the House Committee he asked to report as to the desirability, of making the .official who, so reported an official of the, Board, so. as to have his full '.time. . . This was agreed to.
