To-day, at 11 o’cloek, Messrs Williams ;.£ and Kettle, Ltd., will sell, at their auction "v room, Lowe street, a splendid oolleotion.-'t of pictures, which are causing more than usual interest. Keen competition is expected as lihe paintings have been greatly admired, ahd we understand that they a,re to be sold; with one or twe ' > without reserve. Most of the works arp from the easel of Mr J. D. Fsrrett, tho well-known Auckland artist, whoso works aro so highly.; prized by art collectors. Tho largest picture, in a catalogue of over 60, is the great “ Waimangu Geyser,’ which is a splendid representation of this weird scene, tho great mass of mud, water and steam being shot up in an instant to?? ’ a thousand feet. The surroundings are also painted with great care and artistic merit. We take it that this picture is one , which is now and will be of great value some day. «■ It would be impossible to enumerate aill tho pictures deserving of attention, but we would strongly advise all who have not seen this fine-display to pay a visit to the rooms to day, this being the last • oppor. tunity as tho sale takes place at II o’cloek. A Wo hope that these fine works of art will' -- find a permanent home in this town. I
