Mails for Wellington and South, per Star of Australia, close at 11 a.m. to-day. The Chief Postmaster notifies that the Hiuemoa is to leave Wellington on"10th inst. for Northern lighthouse, and will call at Russell, B'okianga, Manukan and New Plymouth. The following players will represent the United Cricket Ciub in their match against the Gisborne Club in tho Saturday competition at Victoria Domain on Saturday afternoon next, play commencing at 2 o’clock: —Chisholm, J. Ferris, Gardiner, W. Gibson, Hogg, Hill, Hollamore, A. Lang, Sbarpe (2), Steel. The piece, itself is spoken of very highly, and bb produced by the Bice Dramatio' Company the drama will no doubt give complete satisfaction. Special sconery has been painted and all the arrangements ora in fine order. IS is now 'definitely, decided that' the Woads-Wnlliamsbn Dramatic [Company will play a season of three nights at His Majesty’s; .Theatre, commencing on Wednesday, next, When they will produce “ The Garden oE Lies.’’ The Talune brought 25 tons of scenery and properties on Wednesday, morning, so the management evidently intend producing their plays in a thorough manner.An address to the country electors of the Harbor Board from Mr A. Forde Matthews appears in this issue. ’ Mr Matthews, in the course of his address, Btates that, holding that tho election should bo fought out on a direct issue, he consented to nominate as a candidate. His policy opposed tbe present scheme at itß inception, if elected ho will endeavour to stop the present work and tho extravagant expenditure that cannot and never will afford settlors relief from the present oppressive taxation. He advocated the adoption of a sand pump for the river and urges that the Board should conserve their resources for the purpose of constructing a harbor capable of berthiDg ocean going steamers.

MoKee (Mr Alston Coleman), v Hiriwina, claim 8s 7d, costs 17s: Hamon and Smith (Mr Burke) v A. F. Brown, claim Ll 3 16s lOd, costs LI 10s 6d; E. D. F. Simeon and H. M. Greene (Mr Burke) v A. Noonan, olaim LI 10s, oosts 53 ; Welby E. Fisher (Mr Stock) v. Mary Teal, olaim L 4 10s 6d, oosts 10s. In tbe judgment summons case of R. Nock - (Mr Alston Coleman) v Pcra Kouka, Mr Barton, S.M., made an order requiring defendant to pay the amount of dobt and costs, totalling L 5 Bs, in default six days’ imprisonment. In the ease of G. Smith v William MoAneny, defendant agreed to pay the amount owiDg, L 3 15s, in two instalments, and an order wsb made accordingly, in default four days’ imprisonment.
