KILLED BY TRAIN
,(Pee Press Association.)' HiAjWBRA, last aright. By an accident Deorge Rogers, a grocer's assistant, was killed. Deceated was driving a trap load of groceries to the liotpitai, and when crossing the railway line the train struck the conveyance , fairly in the middle. The man was thrown ten yards away. I-Iffs skull was badly fractured. Death was practically, instantaneous. -The horse was badly injured on the legs. It struggled two hundred yards away, bleeding profusely., and "dropped dead. The cart was smashed to splinters, the framework being carried on the cowcatcher for 150 yards. There are two very dangerous crossings near the town, the train being hidden from view in a cutting until it-em-erges at the crossing. The Borough Council has repeatedly petitioned the (Railway Department to make' an- improvement, but withfiut avail.,-
