THIEVING WOOL
SCAMPS RECOMMENDED TO , MERCY. '(Per Press Association.) j Timaru, last night. At the Supreme Court two young men (one of them only 18), E. Eden and O. ' Spicer, of AshburtOD, wore found guilty, with a recommendation to mercy on account of their youth, of stealing two < bales of wool from a shearing shed at f Westerfield. They made up the wool afresh into four half bales, and carted it 30 miles. to Geraldine, and sold it to a dealer. In the second case Judge Chapman directed the jury to acquit, identification >«, of the V7ooi said with that stolen (a bale of« If merino) being inadequate. This wool was alleged by the Crown to have been disposed of in the some manner as wool put into nine sacks. A third case of the same , kind has yot to be hoard.
